Fifth Lesson: Truth And Affirmations
Affirmation of truth is the best way to renew your mind.
Following are some of the false beliefs that you must wipe out from your consciousness:
False belief: God will punish me when I am bad.
Truth: God loves me with an everlasting love.
False belief: It is the will of God that I am poor.
Truth: It is the will of God for me to be rich because I am heir to his abundant kingdom.
False belief: I may be suffering now, but I will get reward in the Kingdom of Heaven when I die.
Truth: God’s abundant Kingdom is here and now.
False belief: I was born a miserable sinner with the sin of Adam, unworthy of the love of God.
Truth: I am a child of God, made perfectly as He is perfect, and whom He loves with an everlasting love.
False belief: The Father has not answered my prayers because I have not prayed loud, often, and long enough.
Truth: I shall pray knowing that the Father knows of what I need even before I ask for it.
Truth will wipe out false beliefs the same way that light will wipe out darkness. When you go into a dark room and walk around the room without turning on the light, you will stumble and fall. The truth that will give you the light is “flip the switch.” Yet, you do not flip the switch. Your false belief tells you that if you pray long enough, the god of electricity will have pity on you and flip the switch for you; if you pray loud enough, the god of electricity will hear you and flip the switch for you. Your false belief tells you that if you pray often enough, the god of electricity will come down and flip the switch for you. It is no wonder you are still stumbling and falling.
There is nothing too complicated about the truth. It is so simple: “Flip The Switch.” Don’t wait for God to come down and flip the switch of life for you. Flip the switch. It is so easy. Jesus taught us the simple and easy way. Just do it! Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you . . . For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)
He didn’t say, “Come to me, all you who are suffering, suffer some more, work hard, do not rest.” What He said was, “Come, my suffering brother, suffer no more because I am teaching you the easy way to abundant life. My way is the easy way.”
The easy way is to affirm the truth. Things do not become true, however, just because you affirm them. You affirm them because they are true. The way to renew your mind is through affirmations. Renewing is like reprogramming. You take the old program out and put the new program in. You reprogram your mind through the affirmation of truth.
